Working closely with the owners’ vision, West Canada Homes integrated the clients’ desires for spectacular views with a house that was easy to use for their young family.

A dignified facade was created by blending traditional materials such as natural cedar siding and cultured stone together with modern elements such as glass railings and large triple glazed expansive windows.

Key considerations were a large TV/kids room, ample space for drying ski clothing, bicycle storage space and the consistent use of durable high quality materials.

Designed around a unifying stair core built from steel, maple and glass, the resulting home is a showpiece in Hokkaido. The interiors were designed to provide a clean, light and airy background to the rich colors and textures of the owner’s furnishing, art and textiles.
