A perfect blend of traditional Japanese craftsmanship combined together with Western sense of spaces and luxuries to create an elegant yet family friendly home.
Enju is an indigenous Japanese tree and is traditionally used as the central post tokabashira in Japanese washitsu or tatami rooms. Long prized as a traditional Japanese hardwood, Enju has been used extensively throughout this 360sqm home. Stairs, railings, posts and furniture all feature enju seamlessly, complementing lighter timbers such as oak, alder and spruce in order to create a timeless and dramatic design.
At the heart of this home is a central stair system crafted from both enju and walnut. Expansive windows on the entry and rear of the home permit ample daylight to fill the stairwell and bring natural light from the upper floor all the way down into the basement.
Enju features two Japanese rooms complete with en-suites, a large family room with wood burning fireplace, three western bedrooms all with custom en-suites, a basement TV and kids room and large custom designed family Onsen bath.← Previous Next →
